The Japan Times を題材に１２月８日オンラインにて９名の参加者によって英文解釈及び意見の発表・交換を行いました。

 1. 題材　The world finds itself on the cusp of a new era （世界は新時代の尖端に）

  １２月例会の議題は、先の大戦以降の歴史を振り返った上での未来展望でありました。

  当該The Japan Timesの題材の概要は以下の通りです。

  • ごった返す世情、地政学的緊張の高まる現在はオイルショック期に近似
  • 過去の３変革期（第二次大戦直後、オイルショック期、ソ連邦崩壊期）と新時代の５領域（世界秩序、技術、人口統計、資源・エネルギー、資本化）
  • １９７１年までのポスト第二次大戦期の好況
  • １９８９年までの闘争の時代；オイルショック、ドルの兌換停止、ソ連邦崩壊、欧州再編
  • １９８９年以降インターネットの開始、中国・インドの世界経済への参入
  • 現状の混迷、その先の不透明感
  • 社会は老齢化、不平等化への一途。はたしてわれわれは？
  • 新時代を拓く行動を！　過去を振り返れば、未来の可能性が見えてくる

2. メンバー各自は未来の世界像、日本像、それらに関連する対処方針などを発表と質疑応答を行いました。内容は以下の通りです。

  • 人口予測から見た日本の将来像と対応策
  • 「Peak Power Trap」論に基礎を置いた中国の近未来予測
  • 市場経済・資本主義の将来展望
  • 特異点を超えて人類に対する脅威となるAIへの危惧
  • 第一次核世界大戦の現実性と回避への道
  • 今後２０年間の「混乱全開期」全展望
  • 量的幸福を滅却する「無量寿」思考で、資本主義の転換を

 

過去と現在を踏まえて見渡すことはいつでも難しいことであり、また刺激的なことでもあります。今回はメンバーがそれぞれに個性を発揮して独自な発表を行いましたが、残念ながら明るい展望はほぼ聞かれませんでした。

未来を考えれば考えるほど、また現実を見据えれば見据えるほど明るさが見えてきません。それほどまでに今、未来に対して大きな誤りを犯しながら不透明な時代を生きているということなのでしょう。未来を考えたなら今なすべきことや、大胆な発想の転換の必要性が見えてくるというのも一つの意見でした。

Each member presented what is anticipated in terms of future of the world and Japan. And measures for addressing the future and some questions/answers were also heard. Contents of the presentation follow below.

  • Future appearance of Japan viewed from forecasts of population and measured to be considered
  • A near future forecast of China based upon “Peak Power Trap” theory
  • An outlook of market economy and capitalism in the future
  • Apprehension of AI beyond Singularity for menacing humanity
  • Actuality of World Nuclear WarⅠand an averting measure
  • Perfect outlook of coming 20 years of “Full-open throttle of confusion”
  • To supersede capitalism, here you are a notion of “Immeasurable happiness/blessing” meant to remove quantified happiness.

It’s always a tall and exciting order to anticipate future both from past and present view- points. This time our members presented in their own way respectively. But, unfortunately seldom did we hear optimistic opinion.

The more intent we think about a future and the more serious we gaze the present surroundings, the less likely we see a bright future. This could mean, to such an extent, that we may be living in an unknowable age, making big mistakes for the future generations.

There also was an opinion that thinking about the future shows us what to do now and necessity of some game-changing notion.
