今年度第一回のE-News & Songsサークルはランバスの確保ができず、英語のカラオケ“Oldies”のみで、その後恒例の新年会を開催、今年も英語を通じて広く社会の動きを勉強することをお互い確認した。
平成２９年は過去に経験したことがない事態が走馬灯のように駆け巡りそして、平成３０年にそれらのほとんどが繰り越されて幕を開けた。
１２月２９日のJapan Times Editorial で世界及び日本でも決して忘れてはならないそしてある意味では今後も粘り強く訴えかつ関係者が心して取り組まねばならない二つの問題をあえて取り上げていたので紹介したい。冒頭の言葉は
The year 2017 has been marked by a shift in the balance of power and a recalibration of roles and status.
① A new power is asserting itself in the world, and traditional holders of influence and authority are on the defensive.
② In the second debate, the focus is on the representation of women in society.
Women must seize this opportunity and work with men to recalibrate power in their societies in ways that offer equal protections and equal opportunities for all.
メンバーの一人は次のように理解した。
① 2017年は世界中で新興勢力と旧守派が激突、旧守派の内部崩壊が進行
② “ﾌｪﾐﾆｽﾞﾑ＝女性解放主義”が台頭、世界保健機構タイム誌そして日本政府報告書で女性虐待を相次いで公表も引き金
そして女性は均等な保護と均等な社会機会を男性に今後も求め続けること。
